Countess Scherbatova's Palace

Palace Nemyriv was founded in 1885 by Princess Mary Shcherbatova and designed by Czech architect Jiří Stibal (1859-1939) constructed before the revolution of 1917.

Princess traveled a lot, especially when she was young. So as it is told, she noticed a palace somewhere in England, and she wanted to build a copy of that palace in Nemyriv. Throughout varios periods of two-storey palace construction in neoclassical style, its architects were G. Hriner, E. Kramarzh, A. Zyma, and I. Fomin. Around the palace there was formed a park, founded by Vintsentyi Potocki in 1787. In May 1921, by decree of Lenin, on the area of the estate of Princess M.H.Scherbatova there was created the first in Ukraine sanatorium for Podolsk residents. Today, the estate of Princess M.H.Scherbatova hosts "Avanguard" sanatorium - a multidisciplinary health institution with several branches of rehabilitation, and the palace hosts therapeutic and diagnostic department and art gallery.
