Peresopnytsia Gospel is called the book-phenomenon. It is not only the first translation of scripture into the national language and hand-written masterpiece, but also a symbol of statehood. As it is this book the Ukrainian Presidents hold their hands on while taking the oath of allegiance. Gospel was created in an ancient princely town today known as village Peresopnytsia near Rivne city. This is the place where monks finished the work on the First Ukrainian Book in 1561. Here, tourists can see the facsimile copy of hand-written masterpiece, hear about princess thanks to whom The First Book was created, and look at the only world collection of translations of the scripture into different languages
