Azov-Syvash National Park was created to preserve the rich flora and fauna, unique natural complexes of the northern Azov region. 52,000 hectares, 8469 — land, 43685 — water. With its soft climate, rich feeding grounds and protected areas, the Azov-Sivash Park is a place of nesting for many birds and a point of the great migratory path. You can find bustards, little bustards, steppe and gray cranes, northern harriers, golden eagle, greater spotted eagle, saker, peregrine falcons, steppe kestrels in the park. 30 species of birds are listed in the Red Book of Ukraine. White-tailed eagle and little bustard are also objects of European Red List. From the very creation of the reserve it became the site for animal and bird unique species acclimatization. Ring-necked pheasant, red deer, fallow deer, mouflon and kulan were acclimatized here. Among local, there are hare, fox, raccoon dogs in the park. The flora of the park is dominated by desert steppe and marsh vegetation with feather grass and wheatgrass steppes. In the protected areas of the Central Sivash — Churyuk and Kuyuk-Tuk, the true steppe "natives" remained, such as the arid sage, bristly tеrinite. There are also unique to Ukraine kermek churyuksky, sivash mealybug, sivash silene, biryuchansky yarrow and pleistocene relict species. One of the most interesting places in Azov-Syvash park is "dead" — or rather "rotten sea" — Lake Syvash. Another outstanding point of the Azov-Syvash National Park is a Byriuchyi Island (in translation — "Wolf Island").
