Entering Putyvl, you will know immediately that it is the city of Partisan Glory. It is not surprising that there is a monument to one of the most famous partisans, commander of Putivl partisan detachment, Sydor Artemovich Kovpak. Without proper education, he was able to organize a detachment and successfully pass with fights more than 6,000 km of front.
The monument was erected in 1971, in honor of the 30th anniversary of the partisan movement in Sumy region. In composition, it consists of two parts: a pyramidal pedestal simulating a mountain, and the actual figure of a partisan. The first is made of concrete, reaching 7 meters. Sculpture of the general height of 4,5 meters, is made of cast iron. Kovpak is depicted in a long fur coat, hat, with a pipe in his hand, looking thoughtfully toward the river Seym.
