Interestingly, according to historical documents, the cathedral was built on the donations of ordinary people, as well as wealthy Cossacks and landowners, who were honored to be buried in the crypts of the cathedral.
The uniqueness of the building is a rare combination of the style of the Ukrainian baroque and the cubic forms characteristic of Russian churches. To the complex, in addition to the Svyatodukhiv Cathedral itself, there are also the Vasylivska church with a bell tower and a house of clerics. The windows of the cathedral are located in two tiers. The facade is decorated with pilasters and a figured pediment.
The painting of the building was made by the famous artist Hryhoriy Stetsenko. Also, the artist painted a painting depicting Madonna, in which the features of the artist's daughter are recognized. Now the painting is exhibited in the Romny Museum of Local History.
Thanks to the unusual architecture of the domes, which seem to be stretching upwards, the cathedral is organically intertwined in the local landscape, and it seems like a continuation of steep slopes.
