Number of monuments of national and world importance, foundations of 14 annalistic churches of XII-XIII centuries, over 200 archeological monuments, 18 nature conservation objects organically connected with historical monuments of history and architecture are under the protection. The reservation exists on the basis of the historical and cultural monuments complex, combined historically and by landscape. The reservation is the culturally educational and scientifically research institution. The main purpose of the reserve are identification, research, restoration, preservation, popularization and use of the cultural heritage of ancient Galich. Ancient Galich – is the capital of Galytska and later Galytsko-Volynska principality is a unique historical and archaeological monument of Ukrainian nationwide importance. All the attractions of X-XVII centuries, which are situated on the territory of annalistic Galich and its surroundings, make a cultural heritage of national importance. Along with the objects that are used for its intended purpose (St. Panteleimon church of XII century in the village Shevchenkove, Church of the Nativity XII-XVII century in the city of Galich, Uspenska Church of the XVI century in the village Krylos, Church of the Carmelites of the eighteenth century in the village Bilshivtsi ), here were located the foundations of the Cathedral of the Uspenskyi Cathedral of the XII century with the burial place of Prince Yaroslav Osmomysl, the grave of Galychyna, legendary Prince's well, fragments of the Galician castle of the XIII-XVII centuries, etc. They are of great importance as the source of scientific knowledge of the past, the material confirmation of chronicle mentions, means of spiritual and aesthetic education of people.
