The building is connected with the Polish architect Vladimir Gorodetsky, built in the early twentieth century. (1910-ies) as a building for the Jewish school.

After the revolution the school was closed, the building was used by state and party institutions.

In 1988 the building was transferred to Cherkasy art school, which now bears the name of a famous artist Danylo Narbut.

D.G. Narbut always actively participated in the cultural and social life of Cherkasy. He lived and worked in Cherkasy for 33 years. In the house at Baidy VishnevetskiyStr. , 24, there is a memorial plaque, where he lived and worked in the years 1965-1998 the artist D. Narbut.
